Review, Swatches, FOTD: Maybelline Lip Polish in Glam 2: a pretty everyday pink!

Hello Pretty Ladies,

Hope you all are doing great!

I am sorry for being MIA on and off. I have joined office back after my long leave and have lots of work piled up. Trying to catch a breath! Last week I wrote a review on Esha's blog WellnessAndVanity and the darling gave me a chance to post it on my blog as well. Thanks Esha sweetheart :)  Let me begin with my review of Maybelline’s Lip Polish in shade Glam 2 which I am in love with these days and a much raved about product in the blogosphere these days. I have been wearing this shade quite a lot and loving it.

Read on to find out why.

Product Description (extract from website):

A Trio of concentrates:
  1. Potent Color Extracts.
  2. Concentrated liquid balm.
  3. Glossy shine serum.

Price: 450 INR for 5 ml.

Buy online at Nykaa here or on Myntra here.

Shelf Life: 36 months.

Packaging: I am in love with the packaging. It is so unique and sleek. The color is filled in such that it looks like a lipstick bullet tucked inside the outside tube. I find it very cute and classy at the same time. Since the color is visible from outside, from the transparent tube, it is easier to spot it among your makeup stash. The applicator is slightly curved ensuring even application and it pulls out just the right amount of product for one time application.

My Experience with Maybelline Lip Polish in shade Glam 2:

Shade:  The shade I got was Glam 2. I bought this shade since I wanted to first try out how the formula works for me and I found it to be a subtle pink which would be great as an everyday wear shade. This shade instantly brightens up my complexion and looks very fresh and classy. It is more like a peachy pink shade tending more towards a bright pink as you build up the color. All in all a great everyday wear shade if you are ok with wearing glossy lip colors every day.

Texture and formula: The texture is what impressed me most about these lip polishes. It is unlike any other glossy lip colors. It is very hydrating, soft and creamy texture which is not sticky at all. This reminds me of NYX lip creams although those are totally different in the finish but this glides amazingly as they do and are so creamy. The formula as I said is hydrating so it makes up for a combo of lip color, lip gloss and lip balm which is awesome :D Some might find the texture heavy but I think you can adjust the build up once you start using it and get the hang of it.

Pigmentation:  The pigmentation is average particularly with this shade. I believe the other darker shades have better pigmentation. It can be built up to get better pigmentation. Two swipes will give good color payoff and cover entire pigmentation on the lips.

Staying power: It transfers! And you can guess by this that the staying power is average as well. It stays on my lips for 3-4 hours without meals or drinks. It survives meals but fades away and you are left with a slight tint of color with tiny shimmer particles which does not look tacky or OTT.

Phew! and I am done with my experience. Sorry if you had to bear with this detailed review. :D
I haven't used it over any lipstick yet because on its own it looks gorgeous but I am sure it will look great over a lippie as well.

To sum up:

Pros:
  • Lovely peachy pink shade which instantly brightens up the complexion.
  • Texture is buttery soft and easy to glide to achieve a polished look.
  • Pigmentation is good and buildable with multiple swipes.
  • Hydrating on the lips which makes up for a lip color, lip gloss and a lip balm.
  • Unique applicator which makes application even and precise.
Cons:
  • Staying power is average since it transfers.
Would I recommend this product?
Yes! You should own atleast one of these beauties. Although I am not a gloss fan, I am pretty much impressed with these as they are not like traditional lip glosses. These are lip polishes and they stand true to their name. They give you a polished look :)

Would I repurchase this product?
Yes but I will check out the other shades. I am eyeing Glam 12 and Glam 13.

My Rating: 4.5/5

So go ahead ladies, rock a pink pout with Glam 2!
