I was so excited to try the new Colorshow Crayon Khols launched by Maybelline and had hoarded two of them long back but didn't get a chance to try them on so this review is pending since long. I got two shades Shiny Beige and Ocean Blue. Today I will be reviewing the shade Shiny Beige which is a wonderful shade and a multi-purpose eye pencil. So let's check out how this worked for me.

My Experience with Maybelline Colorshow Crayon Khol in Shiny Beige:

I am loving this crayon khol a lot especially for the shade Shiny Beige. I have used it only twice for review purpose but I am seeing myself reaching out for this when I don't have enough time for eye makeup. It instantly perks up and brightens up my eyes. Let's check out how it worked for me in detail:

Shade: The shade Shiny Beige is an amazing beige color with hints of rosy pink shade. This shade will mostly suit medium to dusky skin tones because it does not show up really well on very fair or pale skin. This shade is universal. It can be used a brow bone or tear duct highlight, as an overall lid color or as an eyeliner. If used in conjunction with black, it really pops out and immediately brightens up the eyes. That is the reason I call this a multi-purpose pencil. :)

Texture and pigmentation: The only downside of this pencil is the pigmentation. You have to take efforts for the shade to show up completely on the eyes because one swipe does not give the much needed color pay off. The pigmentation falls in the category of sheer to medium and has to be really built up to show up. The texture on the other hand is amazing. It glides on without having to pull or tug and applied evenly which helps in achieving a perfect application. The texture is more like a crayon (as the name says) and not super creamy which is good because it does not break unlike other creamy pencils.

Finish: The finish is satiny and the shade tends more towards being a champagne rose color which looks amazing and gives those dreamy eyes you have always wanted :)

Smudge proof claim: It really stays upto its claim of being smudge proof. After it sets on application, it will not budge till you take it off with an oil based makeup remover. I also ran my hand with the swatch on under water and it did not smear or smudge at all nor did it fade. This is a huge plus point for me because I have super oily lids and I can use this a base for my eyeshadows which helps them stay put and also to bring out a subtle sheen in the eyeshadows.

Staying power: It stays on my oily lids for almost the entire day (7-8 hours to be precise) with little fading towards the end. As I said it will not move till you remove it with oil based makeup remover. However, I have not tried this on my waterline and hence can't comment on the staying power on waterline.

Hand Swatches:

The swipe below is swiped once and the one above is swiped multiple times.

EOTD:

Pros:

  • Gorgeous beige rosy champagne shade which can be used for highlighting browbone and inner corner, as an overall lid color, in the waterline, as an eyeliner.
  • Staying power is amazing. It stays on my oily lids for almost an entire day.
  • Smudge proof and waterproof. It will not budge till you take it off.
  • Has a soft texture and you do not have to pull or tug while application.

Cons:

  • A little highly priced as compared to other competitor brands' eye pencils.
  • The pigmentation is average and takes a lot of effort to build up the color to show up on the lids.

Would I recommend this product?

Yes! If you want something which brightens your eyes and something which looks like a lovely champagne rose color on the eyes, definitely pick this up. But if you are expecting it to be super pigmented, I am sorry this is not for you.

Would I repurchase this product?

I have already purchased Ocean Blue from this range but I am eyeing the purple one.

My Rating: 4/5 (0.5 extra for the amazing shade)

So all in all I am in love with this shade and quite happy that I picked it up. From the quality and other perspective of the pencil, I think I would prefer a more budget friendly more pigmented option.
