Hello Lovelies,
Hope you all are doing great!
First of all I would like to apologize in advance as I will be MIA for a week from now as I am undergoing a back surgery this week. I know this is a really sad thing to start off with while writing a post but just wanted you all to know! Hoping to get better soon and get back to my routine and to my love - my blog! Well coming to the review, today I am reviewing a gorgeous neon orange lippie from Lakme's new 9 to 5 collection. The shade I have is Saffron Gossip. Sounds so exotic, doesn't it? :) I have recently taken a plunge into the orange lippie world and totally loving it and this shade is no exception. Although initially I was a little apprehensive of sporting orange lippies, I am totally digging them these days because they instantly perk up the face brighten the complexion.
Read on to find out more.
Product Description:
Lakme Nine to Five brings you a range of 15 shades that sit on your lips all day long. Enriched with Vitamin E; it conditions your lips & softens them with wheat germ oil. So, perk those soft, smooth lips with a touch of matte.
Method of Use:
I recommend scrubbing the lips before application because the lipstick has a dry powdery texture which will not set on dry/chapped lips. You can also use a lip balm and blot it off with a tissue before application.
Price: 400 INR for 3.6 ml.
Shelf Life: 2 years.
Packaging:
I absolutely love the sleek rose gold tube of the lipstick. It looks so classy and stylish at the same time. The name of the shade is mentioned on the bottom which makes it easier to identify if you store your lippies vertically :)
My Experience with Lakme 9 to 5 Lip Color in Saffron Gossip:
I am in love with this lipstick for many awesome factors which I am penning down here. The only downside is the shimmer which is not OTT but may stick around even after the lipstick has faded out. Let's check out the factors in detail:
Shade: I am totally in love with the shade. I am yet to try several other shades from this range that I am eyeing but this shade immediately caught my attention. It is a bright orange neon lipstick which instantly perks up my face and brightens it up. This shade will be more flattering on those with medium to fair complexion. It is a must have for fair-medium complexioned beauties.
Texture and pigmentation: The texture of this lipstick is dry and powdery which is a basic characteristic of most of the long wear lipsticks. As I have mentioned before, you should have hydrated lips for even application. If you have scrubbed your lips before application, this lipstick will glide like a dream. I require a single swipes to cover the pigmentation on my lips and to get good color pay off. The pigmentation is moderate to high depending on the layering on lips. There is visible shimmer which is not OTT and gives a nice sheen to the lips but those who don't like shimmer, I am sorry this lippie will not impress you.
It appears bright on application but sets to a beautiful matte finish in couple of minutes. The hint of neon really makes it stand out and hence makes it a unique neon orange lippie. The neon is not very 'neony' (if you know what I mean). It is perfect - neither much nor less.
Staying power: It stays on my lips for 4-5 hours after which it starts fading a bit unevenly and leaves patches of shimmer which I don't quite like but then I prefer to touch up after 3-4 hours which compensates for the problem. I always say this and saying it again, I am really not good at keeping my lipstick in place, I pucker a lot and tend to lick off the lipstick unknowingly so this might stay on you longer. :)
Dupe alert: I have read somewhere that this could be a possible dupe of MAC Morange but I can't vouch for it as I have not compared both myself. Just sharing! :)

Pros:
Cons:
Would I recommend this product?
Yes! But I recommend trying out the shade before buying it as it is a little tricky orange.
Would I repurchase this product?
Definitely! I am eyeing some other shades from this range and hoping to haul soon ;)
My Rating: 4.5/5
All in all, I would definitely recommend this lipstick if not for anything else but just the shade. I am in love with the shade Saffron Gossip and I am sure you will fall in love too.

Lip swatches:
Pros:
- Stays on for 4-5 hours and does not transfer on cups due to the powdery matte texture.
- Very good pigmentation. A single swipe gives good color pay off.
- The packaging is gorgeous!
- Soft smooth texture and glides well on the lips to give an even application.
- The shade Saffron Gossip is a gorgeous neon orange which looks fabulous in the tube as well as on the lips :)
Cons:
- Will not flatter dry/chapped lips.
- Will mostly suit those with medium-fair complexion.
- The shimmer residue is left behind after the lipstick fades and needs to be removed with a makeup remover to avoid tacky looking lips.
