Review: Maybelline Eyestudio Vivid and Smooth Liner- two lovely shades!

Hello Pretty Ladies,

Hope you all are doing great!

I am having a hectic week in office and waiting for weekend already (the post holiday syndrome *sigh*). I got amazing response for my Candy Nails tutorial which has motivated me to post more such nail art tutorials :) Thank you girls :) Today I will be reviewing two gorgeous colored liners from Maybelline: Maybelline Eyestudio Vivid and Smooth Liner in shades Ocean Blue and Forest Green. I love love love colored eye liners because they instantly brighten up and perk up the eyes ^_^  These two shades compliment my eyes very well and I love wearing them on my eyes often.

Read on to find out how these liners worked for me.

Product Description (from website):

Colored eye pencils, easy to apply.
Vivid color and smooth application for eyes that never look dull.

This converse jar use in the pics was gifted to me by a friend :) it has my name painted on it and a cute little converse shoe inside. isn't it cute? :)

Price: 235 INR

Shelf Life: 2 years.

Packaging:

These pencils come as regular eye pencils which have to be sharpened once they become blunt. The lower edge of the pencil is of the color of the shade for easier identification.

My Experience with Maybelline Eyestudio Vivid and Smooth Liners:

These are a steal for the price. The pigmentation is really good. The pencil glides on smoothly and has a soft buttery texture. You do not have to pull or tug to get a smooth line. The formula is waterproof and smudge proof but it takes a tad bit longer to set on the eyelids. So if you have freshly applied the liner, you have to be careful not to blink much or else the color will transfer onto your eye crease which looks ghastly but once it sets, it does not budge. The staying power is amazing. The color stays on, on my oily lids for 5-6 hours with little bit of fading thereafter. It did not irritate or sting my eyes. All this in a pencil which comes for Rs. 235 is definitely a winner for me. The easy application also helps to control the amount of liner to be applied on the eyes and hence these pencils will also last for long.

Talking about the shades, both these shades are very pretty. Ocean Blue is a toned down blue and Forest Green is a vibrant metallic green. Both brighten up the eyes without looking over the top. A picture is worth a thousand words so let my swatches do the talking :)

Cobalt Blue on my eyes:

Forest Green on my eyes:

Pros:

  • Very good pigmentation.
  • Glides smoothly and has a soft buttery texture.
  • The shades available are perfect for colored eye liner lovers (like me.. yaay!)
  • Staying power is good, it stays on for 5-6 hours.
  • Smudge proof and water proof.
  • Does not irritate or sting the eyes.
  • Inexpensive.

Cons:

  • No ingredients mentioned on the product.
  • Takes a tad bit longer to set which might cause the color to get transferred on the eye crease if you blink while it sets.
Would I recommend this product?

YES!! definitely. Stock them up if you love colored eyeliners.

Would I repurchase this product?
Yes i will repurchase but will check out the other shades.

My Rating: 4.5/5 :-*:-*:-*:-* (-0.5 for missing ingredients list and for the time it takes to set)

All in all these are really good eye pencils for those who want to try funky colors and yet do not want to burn a hole in their pockets.

Have you tried these pencils? What was your experience?Waiting to hear from you via comments :)

Take Care,

Love,
Mayuri
